On an average speed stretch, photographic evidence is taken upon entering and exiting the average speed zone. Number plates are read via ANPR as vehicles pass through the fields of view of each camera. Average speed is calculated based upon the time the driver took between the two points. A speed violation ticket will be issued, including all available evidence. The system can detect all transit vehicles which allow authorities to check for stolen vehicles, traffic monitoring and optimization of traffic flow. Additional features as brand and color recognition and optical classification can be installed
